Free Ration 2025: The Central and State governments continue to run several welfare schemes to support millions of families in India. One of the most important programs is the free ration scheme, which ensures that eligible ration card holders receive essential food grains at no cost. For December 2025, a big update has been issued for ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh. This time, beneficiaries will not only get wheat and rice but also sugar and maize. The Food and Logistics Department has issued fresh instructions and confirmed the new distribution dates.
Free Ration Distribution From December 10 to 28
The Food and Logistics Department has informed District Magistrates and District Supply Officers across Uttar Pradesh to begin the distribution process between 10 December and 28 December. This month’s ration is more beneficial as sugar and maize have been included along with the usual grains.
Districts Receiving Additional Maize and Sugar
Under the National Food Security Act, many districts will receive extra ration support. Antyodaya cardholders in districts such as Agra, Aligarh, Auraiya, Bahraich, Ballia, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Etah, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Firozabad, Gonda, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Mirzapur, Rampur, Sambhal, and Unnao will get the following:
- 14 kg wheat
- 16 kg fortified rice
- 5 kg maize
In the remaining districts, ration cardholders will receive 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice free of cost.
Sugar Distribution at Affordable Price
Antyodaya cardholders will also receive 3 kg of sugar for the months of October to December. The rate is fixed at ₹18 per kg, so families must pay ₹54 at the time of receiving the sugar. This affordable rate aims to support low-income families during festive and winter months.
Ration Shop Timings
To ensure smooth distribution, ration shops will operate in two shifts:
- 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Eligible household cardholders will get 2 kg wheat and 3 kg fortified rice. District supply officers have been instructed to ensure that no beneficiary faces any issue during the process.
Antyodaya Families to Get 3 Months’ Stock Together
Food and Logistics Commissioner Anamika Singh has ordered that Antyodaya families should receive three months’ ration (October, November, December) in a single delivery. In areas with single-stage transportation, all ration shops will be fully stocked by December 9. Nodal officers will be appointed to inspect and verify the distribution in each shop under SDM supervision.
